BRANDING & EXPERIENTIAL
duck.duck
Situated in an iconic octagonal building constructed in the early 1900’s, the challenge was to make a new brand for a coffee/ice cream store, fresh and fun whilst retaining the heritage of the building and surrounding gardens. After several trips to the site my attention was drawn to the location – next to the children’s playground and the pond. Both popular duck-hangout areas with a steer towards parents and kids. This gave way to the name 'duck.duck', the spot between the ducks. The brand brings to life the playful colors and graphics used in children's stories while retaining the sophistication and allure of a coffee house.
The octagonal dot in the middle represents the cafés location and structure. This inspired the design of the logo, signage and collateral for the café, all of which feature splashes of bright duck yellow and iconography that brought a whimsical appeal to the venue and packaging. Key graphics were placed below counter level in the store to allow younger visitors to join in the fun.
